As your therapist I will provide a safe, supportive, and relaxed space where you can:
Being a teenager isn't always easy. Believe me, I've been there myself. Maybe you feel that you're misunderstood by your peers at school, that you don't fit in, or that your parents just don't get you. Perhaps you find yourself dealing with the confusion of what you should be doing with your life and your future. Or maybe you struggle with the stress of living with labels- labels that tell you how to act, think, and feel. I would imagine these problems make you feel angry, sad, anxious, or overwhelmed- causing your grades to suffer, your parents to yell at you, and trouble to follow you. I totally get it, and I'd love the opportunity to help you get past these issues and prevent them from following you into adulthood. The truth is, therapy doesn't have to be a boring place where you just sit and talk about problems. It can be a relaxed, fun, and creative place where you can feel heard, understood, and supported. Let's talk about what's really important to you- your hobbies, your talents, your aspirations, and the things you are passionate about. I would love to serve as an advocate and an ally to help you find solutions that can improve your life, your relationships, and your overall happiness.
I care deeply about relationships. Because people are social and relational beings, I believe emotional fulfillment depends highly on having satisfying, mutual relationships with others. When working with couples I prefer to not pick sides- rather, I am on the side of the relationship. This means I want what's best for both people, and I strive to facilitate a space where you and your partner can hear each other in new and different ways. I am interested in each person as a “whole” and not as a “problem,” and I will work collaboratively with you to help you uncover what is standing in the way of experiencing the love, intimacy, communication, and happiness you both deserve in your relationship. Through this understanding you can discover what is needed to make the relationship stronger and more satisfying for both of you, and create genuine change and healing. I would love the privilege to work with you and your partner in ways that invite you both to celebrate your differences and appreciate your similarities, and it is my hope that therapy will be an opportunity for each of you to become more of the person you truly want to be in the relationship.
